What is a good work at home job?
There
are only a few hundred answers to that question! But the only
answer that
really means anything is this one.
“What
is a good work at home job? The job that
meets the goal you are
trying to achieve.”
Now,
that might sound like an evasive answer to some of you, but it
isn't. You see, every person is different. Every
person has
different needs. Every person has different
talents. And every
person is faced with an entirely different set of personal
circumstances.
The simple fact is that there are hundreds of good work at home
jobs. You
just need to find the one that fits you and your unique needs.
But
how do you go about finding a good work at home job that is right for
you? That is really all that matters. And it is the
only reason you
are reading this. I have actually given this question a lot
of thought
because it is the burning question everyone wants a good answer to.
There
truly are a huge number of perfectly legitimate and very good work at
home
jobs, but you might be having trouble finding one. Warning! Do run pillar-to-post
trying to find one and
definitely do not start buying “job opportunities” at random.
You are
doomed to failure before you even get started and will spend a lot of
money in
the process. You
need a plan.
Most
people fail to find good work at home jobs simply because they do not
know what
they should be looking for. They fail because they have not
defined their
own problems, their needs, their
situation and so on. If
you cannot define your problem, you cannot solve it.
So here is what you need to do.
Answer
These Questions
I
need to find a good work at home job because
____________________________.
Most
people don’t give much thought to why they are looking for a good work
at home
job in the first place. You
are
probably thinking, “How dumb can this guy be?
I need money, Mr. Stupid!”
Well, just needing money doesn’t really
answer the question precisely
enough. Answers
like “… because I
want to make a million dollars” or “… because I
want to be rich” are
called dreaming folks. Not
problem
solving.
If
you answered the question with “… because I need to make some
extra money”,
we are getting closer to a good answer.
Really think about this answer and take
it one step further. EXACTLY
how much extra money do you need to
make every month? Maybe you lost your full time job and you
already know
exactly how much you need. The
entire
goal here is to get very precise about your needs because your needs
will
dictate which type of work at home jobs you should be looking at.
Critical
Point: Keep your
answer in mind as you
look for good work at home job opportunities, because it will help keep
you
from getting sucked into a slick sales pitch promising you big money an
get
rich quick schemes.
How
many hours per week are you willing to devote to your new work at home
job?
Notice
that I didn’t ask you how much time can you devote
to your new work at
home job. Most
people have more free
time than they think, but they are not willing to give any of it up. Here is an exercise for
you. For one week,
keep a log of exactly how you
spend every hour of every day. You
might be really surprised to see just how much time is wasted. We all do it, so I’m not
just pointing the
finger at you. And
I am not, by any
means, suggesting that you should not set aside time for yourself,
because that
is very important too.
Of
your free hours remaining during the week, you must then decide how
much time
you are willing to set aside for your work at home
job. Some work at
home jobs require more time
than others. Plus,
the amount of time
you are willing to devote can have a huge impact on how much money you
can make
toward your goal.
Do you
want to work online or offline?
Let me explain what
that means, for those of you who do not
know. Working
online refers to jobs
that require the use of a computer and the internet.
Offline refers to work at home jobs that
do not require a
computer or the internet. There
are a
few rare work at home jobs that sort of blur that line, but for the
most part
you can rely on these definitions.
Do not be fooled by
advertisements that claim you can make
more money using one approach or the other.
Claims like this are simply not true.
Either approach can earn you the type of
money you need, and if you are
willing to learn and work at them, you can build quite a business out
of either
one.
A quick word about
trying to make money online. There
are basically two ways to make money
online; selling either physical or electronic (informational) products. This short article cannot
even begin to
scratch the surface of explaining what is involved in selling products
online. I do want
to mention that
selling products online can be very lucrative, but you must be willing
to keep
up with changing trends and constantly update your knowledge. Things can change quickly
in the internet
world and you can go from feast to famine in one heck of hurry.
